On 2/18/14, Investigators of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Brandon Michael Alves (AKA: Ariel Fagoth Muller), 214 Rock Creek Rd, Erwin, for aggravated robbery, theft over $1,000 and criminal impersonation.  

The arrest stems from an investigation of a robbery that occurred at La Perla III Mexican Restaurant, 2508 S. Roan St., on 3/19/13. A Hispanic male entered the business and after purchasing several items, he pulled an object from his pants pocket. He hid the object underneath his shirt and demanded all the money from the register. He was given money from the register and then fled the area in a vehicle.

Alves is being held in lieu of a $61,000 bond in the Washington County Detention Facility and is scheduled to appear in Washington County General Sessions Court on 2/19/14/at 1:30 pm.

On 2/18/2014, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Caleb Price (326 Tipton St, Erwin, TN) and Cody Shaw (1709 Lone Oak Dr. Johnson City, TN). Caleb Price was charged with one count of Burglary and Theft of Property under $500.00. Cody Shaw was charged with one count of Burglary and one count of Theft of Property over $1,000.00.

The arrest is the result of an investigation into a Burglary at AAA Oriental Rugs located at 2203 McKinley Road in Johnson City on 2/12/2014. An investigation showed that both men entered the business after closing and removed several thousand dollars worth of rugs. Property stolen during the burglary was recovered from both men who each admitted their involvement. Price and Shaw were taken to the Washington County Detention Center where they are being held in lieu of a $5,000.00 bond. They are scheduled for arraignment on 2/19/2014 at 9:00 AM.

On 02/19/14, Investigators of the Johnson City Police Department’s Special Investigation Squad conducted an investigation at 2 Orr Court. As a result of the investigation Ronnie Shelton (age 41 35 Parmer Rd. Greeneville, Tn.) was arrested on multiple charges.

Shelton is charged with being a Convicted felon in possession of a firearm, Possession of Analogue Substance for Resale, Simple possession of Schedule II narcotics and Unlawful Drug paraphernalia. 

 

Shelton was transported to the WCDC where he is being held in lieu of a $22,000 bond. Shelton’s arraignment is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. on 02/20/14 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 02-19-14, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Kevin E. Gross (617 N. Barton St), 46 years old, and charged him with Credit Card Fraud and Theft of Property over $500.00. 

The arrest came as a result of an investigation into several unauthorized uses of a credit card belonging to an acquaintance of Gross, who reported the transactions to police.  During the investigation, the video was obtained of the transactions and Gross was identified by the victim as the person using the card.   A warrant was issued for Gross’ arrest on the charges and he was located on 02-19-14 and served with the warrant. 

Gross was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center and was scheduled to appear for arraignment at 9:00a.m. on 02-20-14 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 2/20/14, Johnson City Police Department vice investigators arrested Anthony Williams (Greeneville, TN, 27 years old), and charged him with aggravated assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon (3 counts), possession of a handgun during the commission of a dangerous felony (3 counts), possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of hydrocodone with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, resisting arrest, and evading arrest.

 

The arrest comes after a plainclothes investigator stopped to assist a motorist involved in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 26. The motorist was found to be wanted by the Kingsport Police Department for aggravated robbery. When officers attempted to place Williams in custody, he attempted to flee, and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, Williams attempted to disarm the plainclothes investigator.

 

After being placed in handcuffs, officers located two loaded firearms and a large amount of narcotics on Williams’ person. Another loaded firearm and additional drugs were found in his vehicle.

 

Officers and investigators were assisted by an off-duty WCSO deputy who stopped to help.

 

Hunter was transported to the WCDC where he was being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond. His arraignment was scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on 2/21/14 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 2/21/14, Investigators with the Johnson City Police Department arrested Derek Jordan Keys (132 Jimmy Keys Rd., Limestone, TN, 23 years old) on charges of Auto Burglary and Theft of Property over $1,000.00.

On 01/16/14, officers responded to 135 Lynn Rd., Apt. 2, in reference to an Auto Burglary.  The victim reported that his work truck had been burglarized and approximately $1,100.00 worth of property had been taken. 

As a result of the investigation, a warrant was obtained for Keys.  He was taken into custody and transported to the Washington Co. Detention Center where the warrant was served.  He is being held on a $20,000 bond and his arraignment is scheduled for 1:30 pm on 2/24/14 in Washington Co. General Sessions Court.

On 02/23/14, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Austin David Phillips (4202 Englewood Blvd. East, 23 years old) and charged him with Aggravated Assault-Domestic.

The arrest is the result of a domestic assault investigation at 4202 Englewood Blvd East in which Mr. Phillips allegedly struck his girlfriend with his fists several times and attempted to strangle her. Mr. Phillips was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $30,000 bond.  Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 02/24/14 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 02/23/2014, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Heather Richardson (220 Nave Hollow Rd, 22 years old) and Terelle Sanders (2606 McKinley Rd #2, 29 years old) and charged them with possession of schedule II drugs for resale, possession of  schedule VI drugs for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The arrest is the result of knock and talk that occurred at the Double Tree Hotel, 211 Mockingbird Ln, room 109. Officers gained consent to search the room the suspects were staying in and located 84.5 grams of crack cocaine, 29.5 grams of marijuana along with scales and bags. Mr. Sanders and Ms. Richardson were placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where they are each being held in lieu of a $21,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 P.M. on 02/24/2014 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 02/23/14, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Thomas Brooks (1301 Seminole Drive, apt 11C, 23 years old) and charged him with Aggravated Assault and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

At approximately 3:12 a.m., officers responded to 820 W. Walnut St. in reference to a disturbance. Witnesses advised that Thomas Brooks had brandished a semi-automatic handgun to a crowd of people.  Police located Mr. Brooks in the parking lot of Club Next with a loaded .22 handgun in his possession.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $21,000 bond.  Arraignment is set for 2/24/14 at 1:30 p.m. in Washington County General Sessions Court.

 On February 13, 2014, the Johnson City Police Department began an investigation into a missing Johnson City man. Missing is aJaremy Taylor Kazen, 19 year old male, DOB (03-23-94) was last seen in Johnson City, TN on late Friday, 02-07-14/early Saturday 02-08-14. Kazen is 5’11”, 175 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. Kazen has piercings in both ears, tongue, and the right side of his lip. He has the following tattoos:  “Kazen” on the inside of the left forearm, (from elbow to wrist), a skull with a knife through it on the outside of the left forearm, a heart, (in purple ink), between the thumb and index finger on the left hand, and a cross in quotation marks on the knuckle of the left thumb, (in red ink). He also has a tattoo of a Playboy Bunny on his abdomen.

On 2/25/14, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Claude P Smith (1109 Lowell St, 40 years old) and charged him with Vandalism over $500.

At approximately 2:15 a.m., officers responded to 1218 W. Main St. in reference to vandalism to a vehicle.  Upon arrival, I found that the victim’s windshield was busted out and all four tires were slashed.  Victim and witnesses advised they observed Claude P. Smith throw a brick into the victim’s vehicle, rev his engine, and speed away in a Dodge Dakota truck.

Police located the Dodge Dakota truck and Claude P. Smith at the Roadrunner on 607 Twin Oaks Dr.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a 10,000 dollar bond.  Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 2/25/14 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 2/04/14, an investigation began accusing Koval of taking a vehicle belonging to her boyfriend without his permission.

On 2/25/14, Investigators located Koval and transported her to the Washington County Detention Facility where she is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 2/26/14 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

   Members of the Johnson City Police Department have arrested two city men as the results of their investigation into the early morning robberies of two area convenience stores. Police arrested Jason L. Avery, 35, 883 West Main Street, and Rickey L. Greene, 34, 401 S. North Street. The two are accused of robbing the Scotchman Market, 2300 S. Greenwood Drive, around 2:40 am, and then robbing the Sunoco convenience store, 1001 S. Roan Street, just after 5:45 am. this date. In the first of the two robberies Rickey Greene acted as the lookout for Jason Avery as he robbed the Scotchman Market of an undetermined amount of cash, and then Jason Avery acted as the lookout for Rickey Greene, who reportedly used a knife to threaten a clerk when the Sunoco was robbed a few hours later. Both men are charged with one count each of aggravated robbery, one count each of robbery, and one count each of theft under five hundred dollars. The two were taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where each is being held on a bond of $61,000. A court date is set for 2/25/14 @ 9:00 a.m. in Washington County General Sessions Court.

     On Wednesday, February 26, 2014, 58 yr. old David M. Atchley, 619 Hillcrest Dr., Johnson City, Tenn. was arrest on a charge of filing a false police report.  The charge was a result of an investigation where Mr. Atchley filed a crash report on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 and provided false information regarding when, where and how the crash occurred.  Later this date, ETSU police notified the JCPD that they were investigating a crash that occurred during the early morning hours of February 23, 2014 and the provided description of the suspect vehicle.  ETSU investigators were contacted and informed of the investigation of Mr. Atchley’s crash report.  A joint investigation began between the JCPD and ETSU which led investigators to develop Mr. Atchley as a suspect.  On February 27, 2014, Mr. Atchley met with the investigators and admitted that he was driving the vehicle which fled the scene from the crash on ETSU property.  Mr. Atchley was then arrested for filing a false police report and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.  Mr. Atchley was booked into the WCDC and released on a $6000 bond.  A preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled on march 27, 2014 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 2/27/14, Investigators with the Johnson City Police Department arrested Branson James O'Quinn (1293 Bluefield Ave. B2-115, Elizabethton, TN, 18 years old) and charged him with Auto Burglary (2 Counts), Theft under $500 and Theft over $1,000.

On 11/26/13, Officers responded to two Auto Burglaries that occurred during the night at 3317 Martindale Drive and 15 Madison Court.  Both residences are in the same neighborhood.  During the course of the investigation, the defendant was discovered to have been in possession of property stolen from the burglary at 3317 Martindale Drive.  A warrant was issued for the defendant.

On 02/27/14, the defendant was arrested at the Washington County Courthouse.  He was transported to the Carter Co. Detention Center where the warrant was served.  He is being held on a $27,500 bond.  There is no date set for his Arraignment.

     On February 27th, 2014, at approximately 11:30 P. M., officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to 150 West State of Franklin Road, at the Downtown Square Parking Lot, in reference to a shooting.  Upon arrival officers discovered that Dustin Gibson, 1515 Magnolia Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee, had received a gunshot wound.  Witnesses stated that the victim and another subject had gotten into a physical altercation when a firearm was drawn and fired.  Gibson was transported to the Johnson City Medical Center with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries. On 02/28/14, Investigators of the Johnson City Police Department’s Special Investigation Squad conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 26. As a result of the traffic stop Brandon G. Porter 5528 Starkwood  Dr. Charlotte, NC. (age 29) was found to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine, a handgun and drug paraphernalia.

 

Porter is charged with Possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, Being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Sch II for resale and drug paraphernalia. 

 

Porter was transported to the WCDC where he is being held in lieu of a $31,000 bond. Porter’s arraignment is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on 03/03/14 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 03/01/14, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Justin D. Zoss (1803 Port Circle, Johnson City, 29 years old) and charged him with Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Seat Belt Violation and Financial Responsibility. The arrest stems from a traffic stop on Zoss at the intersection of Knob Creek Road and Simmons Ridge for not wearing a seatbelt. Once stopped, officers, with the assistance of a canine, discovered marijuana, prescription pills and paraphernalia.

Zoss was transported to the Washington County Detention Facility where he is being held in lieu of a $12,000.00 bond. His arraignment is set for 03/03/14 at 1:30 p.m. in Washington County General Sessions Court.
