On 9/5/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Brandon L. MIller (415 Cash Hollow Rd., Johnson City, Tn.,32 years old) and charged him with being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Stolen Property
At approximately 9:53 a.m. on 9/5/17, officers went to 1209 Division St to serve a warrant on Brandon Miller. Upon arrival at the residence, Officers observed Miller asleep on the couch. After being allowed in to the residence, Officers took Miller into custody without incident. A search of Miller’s belongings was conducted incident to arrest. In a backpack, officers located a Glock 40 caliber pistol. A check of the pistol revealed it was stolen out of Carter County. It was also discovered that Miller is a convicted Felon out of Carter and Washington counties.
Police arrested Mr. Miller and he was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where Miller is being on a $11,000 bond. Arraignment is set for September 6th at 1:30 p.m., in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 09/05/17 officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Janssen Cavelli (805 Wilson Ave Johnson City, TN, 59 years old) and charged him with Aggravated Assault.
At approximately 5p.m., officers responded to 805 Wilson Ave in reference to an altercation that had been physical. Officers observed the victim trying to hold the suspect, Janssen Cavelli, down. The victim was covered in blood and was asking Mr. Cavelli to let the mallet go. The two were separated, and the victim was treated by EMS on scene then transported to the Johnson City Med Center for a head injury. Investigation revealed the two had gotten into a verbal argument, and Mr. Cavelli struck the victim in the head with a wooden mallet as the two began fighting.
Mr. Cavelli was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault then transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond, and an arraignment is set for 09/06/17 at 1:30pm in Washington County Sessions Court.

On 09/06/2017, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Matthew Dye (no known address, 19 years of age) and charged him with 2nd Degree Murder.
At approximately 1:19 am, officers responded to 222 E. Maple St, Johnson City, in reference to a stabbing. Upon their arrival, officers located a 41 year-old male victim laying in the yard with a single stab wound to the back. Emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving procedures on the victim, but he was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Through the investigation, it was determined that an altercation occurred between the victim and Mr. Dye resulting in the victim being stabbed in the back. Mr. Dye fled the scene on foot but was located a short time later by patrol officers at the Quality Inn parking lot on S Roan St. Mr. Dye was transported to the Johnson City Police Department where he was interviewed and confessed to the stabbing. Mr. Dye was then transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond. Arraignment is scheduled for 1:30 pm on 09/06/2017 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
*UPDATE*
The victim of today’s homicide investigation has been identified as Gary L. Taylor, 41 years of age who resided at 222 E. Maple Street, Johnson City, Tennessee. Investigators were withholding the name of the victim until the next-of-kin could be notified.

On 09/03/2017, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Nena M. Thrift, 32 yr old, 460 Cedar Grove Rd., Johnson City, and charged her with Theft of Property over $1000 and Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia. The arrest occurred after officers were dispatched to the intersection of Lester Harris Rd. and E. Holston Ave. to investigate a female unconscious in the driver’s side of a vehicle.
Ms. Thrift was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where she is currently being held on an $11,000 bond. An arraignment is scheduled for 09/05/2017 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 9/6/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Phillip G Stanley (1108 Spring St., Johnson City, Tn.,62 years old) and charged him with Aggravated Assault.
At approximately 4:15 p.m. on 9/6/17, officers where dispatched to 1108 Spring St in reference to an unwanted guest. Prior to arrival, communication center advised that all individuals at the residence were highly intoxicated and the homeowner wanted someone to leave his residence. Upon arrival, contact was made with the victim. He advised that the homeowner stabbed him in the arm. The victim removed his jacked and a single stab wound had been made to his left arm. The victim was able to tell that the homeowner, Phillip Stanley, went crazy and stabbed him. EMS arrived on scene and transported the victim to the Johnson City Medical Center for further medical attention for his non-life threatening wound.
Police arrested Mr. Stanley and he was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $50,000 bond. Arraignment is set for today the 7th at 1:30 p.m., in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 09/07/17, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Dakota Roy Chapman (22 years old, of 132 George Bowers Rd. Elizabethton, TN) and charged him with one count of Forgery over $1000, one count of Forgery under $1000, and one count of Theft of Property over $1000.
The arrest is the result of an investigation into a report that was filed by the victim who advised that he had found that two of his personal checks had been forged and passed at a bank located in Johnson City.
Mr. Chapman is currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $15,000.00 bond. Arraignment is set for 09/08/17 at 10:30 a.m. in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 9/7/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Eddie Green (205 W Fairview Ave, Apt #2, Johnson City, TN, 59 years old) and he was charged with Driving on a Revoked License and Felony Reckless Endangerment. Officers responded to Boost Mobile (1011 W Market St.) on a male who was swinging a hammer inside the store. While in route to the location, dispatch informed officers the male had left and the license plate came back to Eddie Green at 205 W Fairview Ave Apt #2. Upon arrival, officers observed Mr. Green pull into his driveway at his address. Officers found the hammer in the vehicle and discovered he was revoked for DUI. The vehicle was seized and he was arrested for Driving on Revoked and Felony Reckless Endangerment. Eddie Green is being detained at the Washington County Detention Center. He has a $5,000 bail for these charges, with an arraignment set for Friday the 8th at 1:30 PM, in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 9/8/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Coryn R. Perry (2914 Watauga Road, 23 years old) and charged her with false reports.
On 8/23/17, officers of the Morristown Police Department were contacted by Coryn R. Perry in reference to her iPhone and $300 cash being stolen from her vehicle. Perry reported that theft occurred in Morristown, and listed a suspect. Several hours later Perry contacted the Johnson City Police Department. She reported that the same iPhone and $300 was stolen from her home in Johnson City. Perry gave officers the same suspect information that she provided in Morristown.
On 9/8/17, officers made contact with Coryn R. Perry when she came to the Johnson City Police Department to file another report on the same suspect for theft. Perry was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 9/11/17 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 9/8/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Kenneth Alan McKinney (212 Odebell Wood Rd, Apt 205, Calhoun, GA, 47 years old) on the charges of public intoxication and fugitive from justice for a crime in another state.
The arrest is the result of a 911 call in regards to an intoxicated person. The suspect, later identified as McKinney, was located by officers and subsequently taken into custody for his safety and the safety of the public. A records check later revealed that McKinney was wanted by the Gordon County, GA Sheriff’s Office on a probation violation, with extradition from surrounding states. He was then charged with being a fugitive from justice for a crime in another state.
McKinney was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held pending a bond hearing. He is scheduled to appear for his arraignment in Washington County General Sessions Court on 9/12/17 at 1:30 p.m.

On 09/10/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested 37 year old Tiffany Arbogast, General Delivery, Johnson City, Tennessee, and charged her with Aggravated Burglary, Resisting Arrest, and Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia.
At approximately 12:00 pm, officers responded to 1316 Woodland Ave. on a sounding burglar alarm. Upon arrival, officers observed a broken window and surrounded the residence. Ms. Arbogast attempted to exit the residence on the side but was quickly confronted by an officer. She then ran back inside the house and out the back door. Ms. Arbogast fled on foot for a short distance before she was taken into custody. She was in possession of four syringes consistent with those used for illicit drug use and property from the residence. Ms. Arbogast was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where she is currently being held in lieu of a $22,000 bond. Her arraignment is set for 09/11/17, 1:30 pm, in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 9/12/17, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jerry Edward Leary (202 W. Fairview Ave., 32 years old) and charged him with 5 counts of auto burglary and two counts of theft under $1,000.
The arrest comes as a result of a continuing investigation into a series of auto burglaries that occurred in the area of Taylor Ridge Ct. and E. Highland Rd. on 8/14/17 and 8/15/17. Multiple residents in these area reported having their vehicles rummaged through and various properties stolen during this time period. Through the course of the investigation, Leary was identified as the perpetrator of these thefts.
Leary was already incarcerated in the Washington County Detention Center on related charges. Leary is now being held on an additional $52,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 9/13/17 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On September 13st 2017, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Dustin Robinson, 26 yr old, 3406 W Market St, Johnson City, and charged him with Possession of Methamphetamine and Identity Theft. The arrest stems from an investigation into a suspicious vehicle behind a local hotel.
Mr. Robinson was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is currently being held on a $20,000 bond. An arraignment is scheduled for September 14th 2017 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 09/13/17, Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested a male juvenile, charging him with False Reporting. The arrest was the result of an investigation into an incident in which the juvenile pulled one of the fire alarm stations inside of Science Hill High School, causing a disruption and a potentially hazardous situation for all students and staff. The juvenile was arrested and released into the custody of his parent. The juvenile has a preliminary hearing set for 10/06/17 at 9:00am at the Johnson City Juvenile Court.

On 09/13/17, at approximately 2:51 a.m., officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Rita Metcalf, 42 years old, of 160 Hilltop Rd, Johnson City on charges of Identity Theft, Driving on Revoked License – 4th offense, Due Care, and Financial Responsibility. The arrest resulted after officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Plymouth Rd. Upon arrival, Ms. Metcalf gave officers a false identity. Upon further investigation, officers were able to figure out Ms. Metcalf’s true identity. Once Ms. Metcalf’s real identity was determined, officers discovered her driver’s license to be revoked. Ms. Metcalf was then arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where she was placed under an $11,000 bond. An arraignment is pending in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 09/14/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested 20 year old Tyler J Riddle, 2465 Lakewood Drive, Johnson City, and charged him with Aggravated Assault (Domestic).
On 09/13/17, at approximately 9:00 pm, officers responded to investigate an assault being reported at Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton, Tennessee. Officers made contact with a female who was being treated for severe burns to her arms as well as bruises and lacerations to her face and back. The investigation revealed an altercation had allegedly occurred between the female and her boyfriend, Tyler Riddle, on the afternoon of 09/12/17. A warrant was obtained for Mr. Riddle for the charge of Aggravated Assault (Domestic).
On 09/14/17, at approximately 1:00 am, Mr. Riddle was located, and arrested, at his residence. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for 09/14/17, 1:30 pm, in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 9/14/17, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Daniel Gary Morris Jr. (925 Pine Ridge Rd., Elizabethton TN, 35 years old) and charged him with auto burglary and theft under $1,000.
The arrest comes as a result of an investigation into a theft from a motor vehicle that occurred in the early morning hours of 8/4/17 at 400 N. State of Franklin Rd., Johnson City Medical Center. The victim reported that her car had been burglarized while she was inside visiting a patient. The investigation revealed Morris to be the perpetrator of this theft and on 9/14/17, Morris was questioned by police and he admitted to committing the crime.
On 9/14/17, Morris was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of an $11,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 10:00 a.m. on 9/15/17 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 09-14-17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested 23 year old Jeremy Murray, 157 Garden Dr., Johnson City, and charged him with aggravated assault.
At 1:59 pm, officers responded to 107 E. Locust St., Apt 2, in reference to an assault. Upon arrival officers located a male who appeared to have been stabbed. The male reported his girlfriend’s son became upset over a cat bothering him, pulled a machete, and stabbed the victim several times. The suspect, identified as Jeremy Murray, then fled the scene. The victim was transported to the Johnson City Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries.
Officers located Jeremy Murray at his residence shortly after the assault. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Mr. Murray is currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond. An arraignment is scheduled for 09-15-17, at 10:30 am, in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 9/15/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to 1202 Plantation Dr., Johnson City, TN., in reference to a death investigation.
At approximately 9:00 a.m., officers responded to the victim’s home. A male identified as Claude Hardin, 53 years old, was found deceased inside his residence. The residence was locked when the witnesses arrived and they observed the victim through a window. Entry was then forced into the home by the witnesses to check on the victim’s wellbeing. He was found unresponsive and they called 911. Emergency medical units and police responded to the scene. The scene was secured and investigators from the Johnson City Police Department and Forensic Pathology responded to assume the investigation.
There was no indication of foul play involving the death. The body was sent to the William Jenkins Forensic Center for autopsy. The investigation is ongoing.

On 9/15/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Frenando B. Anderson (General Delivery, Johnson City, Tn.,36 years old) and he was charged with Possession of Stolen Property (over $10,000), Simple Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia. At approximately 7:45pm on 9/15/2017, officers located Fernando Anderson at the corner of E Pine St. and S Roan St. Officers had prior knowledge that Anderson had an active warrant for his arrest. Officers took Anderson into custody and a search of his persons was conducted incident to arrest. Officers located a stolen tablet in Anderson’s backpack along with multiple baggies of methamphetamine, a bag of crack cocaine, used syringes, and an empty baggie that is commonly used to store illicit narcotics.
Police arrested Mr. Anderson and he was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being on a $13,000 bond. Arraignment is set for Monday, September 18, 2017, at 1:30 p.m., in Washington County General Sessions Court.
