On 01/25/2015, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Matthew D. Norris (622 E. Maple Street, Johnson City; 20 years old) and Coby E. Carson (112 W. Unaka Avenue #1, Johnson City; 19 years old) and charged them with possession of schedules II and VI narcotics with intent to resell, possession of a handgun in the commission of a dangerous felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Carson was additionally charged with contempt of court regarding an order of protection violation.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m., officers responded to 207 E. Mountcastle Drive, Motel 6, on an anonymous call of drug activity. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Norris and Carson who were standing in the hotel parking lot and observed several small discarded bags of narcotics and two loaded handguns within a short distance from them. It is believed that both Norris and Carson tried to discard the narcotics and handguns when officers arrived, but were not successful. Matthew D. Norris was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $31,000 bond. Coby E. Carson was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $32,000 bond.
