On 1/7/15, investigators of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Whitney M. Lingerfelt (404 Welbourne St., 29 years old) and charged her with being in possession of stolen property overt $1,000.
The arrest comes as a result of an investigation into a burglary that occurred at 509 N. Gilmer Park on 12/4/14; wherein, a large quantity of jewelry was stolen. The investigation revealed that on 12/5/14, Lingerfelt sold some of the jewelry to a business on N. Roan St. This jewelry was positively identified by the victim as being her property. Ms. Lingerfelt came into police headquarters on 1/7/15 and admitted to having sold the jewelry, but denies having knowledge it was stolen.
Ms. Lingerfelt was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:45 p.m. on 1/8/15 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
