PREPARED BY: Officer Kirt Stillwagon APPROVED BY: Sgt. Andy Hodges
On 12/14/14, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Matthew T Lambert (2207 Hicks Rd, Johnson City, TN, 23 years old) and charged him with Felony Evading by Motor Vehicle, Reckless Endangerment, Simple Possession/Casual Exchange, Aggravated Assault, and Window Tint Violation .
At approximately 10:03 p.m., officers observed a gray Chevrolet Caprice traveling on University Pkwy with its vehicle tint appearing to be darker than the legal limit. Officers stopped the vehicle and attempted to make contact with the driver. At that time, the driver fled at a high rate of speed. Officers observed his direction of travel, at which point an additional patrol unit responding to assist, observed the vehicle. The fleeing driver drove into the opposite lane of travel toward the officer. The officer was able to avoid the suspect vehicle and observed the vehicle enter I-26 westbound. Officers were then able to catch up to the vehicle and stop the suspect just off the Gray exit. After taking the suspect into custody, he was identified as Lambert. Officers located a small baggie of a leafy green substance that is consistent with marijuana in the vehicle as well.
Police arrested Mr. Lambert, and transported him to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $30,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 12/15/14, in Washington County General Sessions Court.
