On 11/05/2020, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jesse Briggs, 20 years old, of Johnson City and charged him with Attempted Carjacking , misdemeanor vandalism, and resisting arrest.
At approximately 10:51 am, Officers responded to a report of an attempted carjacking at 1107 N Roan St. A woman reported that she was sitting in her vehicle in the parking lot of Mooney’s Pharmacy waiting on her sister who was inside when she was approached by Briggs. When her sister returned to the vehicle, Briggs shoved her and attempted to get into the vehicle. The woman was able to fight him off and get into the vehicle. The two sisters locked themselves in the car and called 911. As officers arrived on scene, Briggs fled on foot through some yards in the area of the 900 block of N Boone St. Officers again encountered Briggs in the back yard of a residence, where he attempted to run again but was apprehended and placed under arrest. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. Arraignment is set on 11/06/2020 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
