On 05/25/2020, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Porter Grindstaff (41 years of age) of 128 Sheffield Circle in Gray TN, and charged him with one count of Aggravated Assault.
Investigation revealed that on 05/17/2020, Mr. porter Grindstaff and a female went to 2303 Watauga Rd in order to gather some belongings. While there, Mr. Grindstaff became very aggressive and struck the victim multiple times in her face with his hands, subsequently causing her to fall to the ground. At that time, Mr. Grindstaff pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim placing her in fear. Both Porter Grindstaff and his female acquaintance left the scene shortly after the altercation. A warrant for Aggravated Assault was obtained. On this date, 5/25/2020, officers were dispatched to a person trespassing at 1900 S Roan St. Officers made contact with Porter Grindstaff in a hotel room where he was taken into custody on separate charges. The warrant for Aggravated Assault was then served on Mr. Grindstaff at the Washington County Detention Center.
Porter Grindstaff is being held in lieu of a $35,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on 05/26/2020 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
