On 05/25/2020, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Porter Grindstaff (41 years of age) 128 Sheffield Cr Gray TN 37615, and charged him with one count Aggravated Assault.
On 05/17/2020 at 2303 Watauga Rd. Porter Grindstaff and a female arrived in a green Saturn sedan. The female wanted to gather her belongings from the address and the victim’s car. Porter Grindstaff became very aggressive and struck the victim multiple times with his hand in the face. This caused abrasions and cuts on his face. The strikes caused the victim to fall to the ground. At that time Porter Grindstaff pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim. Both Porter Grindstaff and his female acquaintance left the scene shortly after the altercation. A warrant for Aggravated Assault was obtained. On this date, 5/25/2020, officers were dispatched to a person trespassing at 1900 S Roan St. Officers made contact with Porter Grindstaff in a hotel room and was taken into custody on separate charges. I then served my warrant on Grindstaff at the Washington County Detention Center.
Porter Grindstaff is being held in lieu of a $35,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on 05/26/2020 in Washington County General Sessions.
