On 10/25/2019, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Talmadge Hughes of 100 N Roan St. Johnson City, TN 37601, (60 years old) and charged him with one count each of Driving Under the Influence 6th, Driving on a Revoked License, and Violation of Seatbelt Law.
The arrest is the result of an investigation for a report of Mr. Hughes failing to appear in court after being bonded out of jail. A bail bondsman flagged officers down while conducting bike patrol. He provided the information for Mr. Hughes and informed officers of his intent to arrest him if we were able to locate him. A short time later Mr. Hughes was observed driving by officers on S Roan St. near Water St. while not wearing a seatbelt. Officers and the bondsman were able to make contact with Mr. Hughes in the parking lot of the John Sevier Center. Mr. Hughes was discovered to be intoxicated while driving. A check of his license revealed that it was revoked out of Unicoi County for previous DUI’s. Mr. Hughes was subsequently arrested by the bondsman and transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
A warrant was obtained for Mr. Hughes and served on him at the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a Bond Hearing. His arraignment hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on 10/28/2019 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
