On 9/21/19, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Charles Johnson III (34 years old, 23 Brickyard Rd, Asheville, NC) and Wesley Vaughn (26 years old, 7501 Marlbrook Dr, Charlotte, NC) and charged them with aggravated robbery, convicted felon in possession of handgun, evading arrest, and possession of stolen property.
On 09/20/19, officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to an armed robbery at Universal Wines, located at 2815 W Market St. The clerk advised that two males entered the store, brandished a firearm, and robbed the store. The two males left in a black sedan. A short time later, officers located a vehicle matching the description. The vehicle was listed as stolen out of North Carolina. A traffic stop was attempted, but the suspects fled. The vehicle stopped a short time later and the suspects were taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.
Charles Johnson III and Wesley Vaughn were arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he was being held in lieu of $50,000 bond. Arraignment was set for 1:30 p.m. on 9/23/19 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
