On 9/24/19, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Randall Eric Bennett (394 Charlie Hicks Rd, 35 years old) and charged him with carjacking.
The arrest comes as a result of an initial investigation into a man waving a gun in the Wal Mart parking lot, 2915 W Market St., at around 6:50 a.m. on 9/24/19. When Johnson City Police Officers arrived on scene, they learned from two female victims, that the man had approached them, while holding a gun, and demanded that they get inside their van. The victim’s refused and distanced themselves from the individual. The man drove away taking the victim’s van. Through the course of the investigation, Randall Eric Bennett was developed as a suspect. Bennett was taken into custody by Johnson City Police Department Officers after he was found causing another disturbance in the parking lot of Kroger, 1805 W State of Franklin Rd. The firearm Bennett brandished was located and determined to be a pellet gun.
On 9/24/19, Bennett was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $7,500 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 9/25/19 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
