On 12/22/2018 at 10:13 p.m, officers responded to the area of E. Main St near WJHL in reference to a possible vehicle, with a driver that was under the influence, called in by an off duty officer. Officers were able to locate the vehicle at E. Main St. turning on to E Market St, and began observing the vehicle as it got onto I-26W. The vehicle exited the interstate and continued till it got onto Baxter St. While on Baxter St, the vehicle crossed the center line twice, and officers initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle pulled over off of Lowell St, where contact was made with driver who was identified as suspect Michael Reed, 28 yoa, 700 E. Mountcastle Dr. Mr. Reed was administered Standard Field Sobriety Testing, and he performed poorly on all tests. During officers’ interactions with Mr. Reed, he stated he had marijuana in the vehicle. Officers were able to locate approximately 12 grams of marijuana, 7 Xanax pills, a broken glass pipe commonly used to consume narcotics, and an open beer container.
Mr. Reed was taken to JCMC where he submitted to a blood test, and was transported to Washington County Detention Center on charges of DUI 4th offense, Open Container, Simple Possession, and Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia. Mr. Reed is being held at Washington County Detention Center in lieu of no bond. An arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday 12/26/2018 at 1:30 p.m.
