SUBJECT: Theft of Motor Vehicle DATE: 12/23/18 TIME: 2:36 a.m.

On 12/23/18, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested John Vanover (1908 E Watauga Avenue, 59 years old) and charged him with theft of property (motor vehicle) and simple possession.
At approximately 2:36 a.m., officers were searching the area of Peoples St. and Greenline Rd. for a suspect when they observed a maroon Chevrolet pickup driving suspiciously through the area. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with Mr. Vanover. While investigating the incident officers discovered that the vehicle was stolen at the time of the stop.
Mr. Vanover was placed into custody. While searching Mr. Vanover, a small soboxone pill was found in his pants pocket. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $6000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 12/26/18 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
