On 10/13/18, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Kella Proffitt (1853 Jackson Hollow Rd, 36 years old) and charged her with possession of methamphetamine, unlawful drug paraphernalia, shoplifting, and resisting arrest.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., officers responded to Walmart on Brownsmill Rd in reference to a shoplifter. When I arrived I saw the suspect, later identified as Kella Proffitt, walking in the front of the building while yelling at Walmart employees. When she saw my police car she turned and ran back into the store. Proffitt was located in the store and placed under arrest after initially trying to get away from officers as they were placing her in handcuffs. The items which Proffitt had walked out of the store with totaled $390.30., and varied from household goods to clothing and consumable goods. A search of Proffit’s person and belongings lead to the discovery of 0.8 grams of methamphetamine and a glass pipe. Kella Proffitt was arrested and charged with the possession of methamphetamine, unlawful drug paraphernalia, shoplifting, and resisting arrest. Suspect Kella Proffitt was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is being held in lieu of a $4,000 bond.
Arraignment is set for 1:30p.m. on 10/15/18 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
