On 3/11/2017 officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Angela D. Benton (36 years old, General Delivery) on the charges of: 3 counts of Reckless Endangerment (by motor vehicle), Leaving the Scene of an Accident (damage to vehicle), Leaving the Scene of an Accident (unattended vehicle), 2 counts of felony Vandalism, and Driving on Revoked License 2nd offense.
On 1/10/17 at approximately 10:00 pm, officers responded to 3111 Browns Mill Road (Wal Mart) in reference to an incident that occurred involving multiple bondsmen attempting to take the defendant into custody on outstanding warrants. As bondsmen attempted to take the defendant into custody, she allegedly used her vehicle to intentionally ram two vehicles in an attempt to escape. The damage to each vehicles was of a felony amount, and one vehicle was occupied by a bondsman when it was rammed. That occupant, along with two other bondsman alongside the defendant’s vehicle, were placed in immediate danger by the defendant’s actions as she fled the scene. Investigation also revealed the defendant’s TN driving privileges were revoked at the time of the incident.
The Defendant arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where she is being held in lieu of a $32,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 pm on 3/13/17 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
