Felony Arrest

SUBJECT: Drug/Weapon Arrest                 DATE: 01/08/17                 TIME: 5:00 a.m.

    On 01/07/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Paul B Dean (180 JB Griffith Rd. ,Erwin, Tn., 35 years old) and he was charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine for Resale, Simple Possession/Casual Exchange, Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a Dangerous Felony, and being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.  At approximately 9:05 pm, officers stopped a black Nissan Maxima at the Quality Inn on S Roan St. Prior to the stop, officers were dispatched to the area in reference to drug activity. Officers then observed Dean driving the vehicle and had prior knowledge that Dean did not possess a valid drivers license. Officers then spoke with Dean and asked consent to search his vehicle, which he consented. During the search officers located a felony amount of methamphetamine in multiple baggies. Officers then located a loaded handgun as well as a variety of prescription medications and a small amount of marijuana in the same location of the methamphetamine. Officers then located paraphernalia associated with drug use/sales.  After arresting Dean, officers discovered that he was a convicted felon for prior drug offenses.  Mr. Dean was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $32,000 bond . Arraignment is set for Monday the 9th at 1:30 pm, in Washington County General Sessions Court.
