On 01/11/2017, Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Matthew McGimsey (General Delivery, Boone, NC 28607, 39 years old) and charged him with 2 counts of Aggravated Burglary. On 1-11-17 officers were dispatched to 1410 Merrywood Drive in reference to a burglary that had already occurred. The victim stated that he left the home at approximately 8:30 AM. Upon return, he found the front door was cracked open with its window busted out. There were muddy footprints discovered inside the residence. While investigating the burglary at 1410 Merrywood Drive, Officers were dispatched to 1411 Ridgecrest Road in reference to a burglary in progress. Officers responded to the scene and made contact with the home owner of 1410 Ridgecrest Road. The victim stated that he left his residence this morning and upon returning home discovered Mr. McGimsey in his back bedroom. During the course of the investigation, Mr. McGimsey admitted to the burglary at 1410 Merrywood Drive. Mr. McGimsey was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where his bond was set at $40,000.00 with an arraignment set for 1/12/2017 at 1:30 P.M. in Washington County General Sessions Court.
