On 06/23/16, at 8:55 a.m., officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to Aspen Ridge Apartments, 1112 King Springs Rd., in reference to a suspicious person. As officers responded to the location, they were advised the situation had turned into an assault. Upon arrival, officers found a 74 year old male on his knees in the parking lot. The male appeared to have been seriously injured. The elderly male was transported to Johnson City Medical Center where it was revealed that he suffered a fractured right hip. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the suspect, 41 year old Jason Avery of 1112 King Springs Rd., Apt 19, assaulted the male causing the injuries and stole the victim’s cellphone. Mr. Avery was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is currently being held under a $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled in Washington County General Sessions Court.
