On 06/27/16, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Leslie N. Whaley (283 Furnace Road, Johnson City, Tennessee; 35 years old) charging her with False Reporting and Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia.
The arrest stems from the investigation of suspicious persons attempting to purchase large quantities of Sudafed from Food City, 4307 N. Roan Street. Officers observed a vehicle matching the description provided by store personnel and conducted an investigatory stop. During questioning, Ms. Whaley repeatedly lied to officers - giving a false name, date of birth, and social security number. Continuing to investigate, officers were able to determine her true identity and took her into custody. During a search of her vehicle incident to the arrest, officers discovered several items consistent with illicit drug use, to include multiple used syringes.
Ms. Whaley was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is being held in lieu of a $6,000 bond. Ms. Whaley’s arraignment is set for 06/28/16 at 1:30 p.m. in Washington County’s General Sessions Court.
