On October 28, 2015 at approximately 1:55 am officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrest 36 year old Mark L Gillman of 100 Carter Dr. Johnson City TN after emergency workers were dispatched to Interstate 26 near the E Watauga exit ramp in reference to a vehicle crash with injuries. During the investigation officers discovered that Mr. Gillman had intentionally driven his vehicle into a guardrail on the interstate shoulder. The crash caused the vehicle come to a final rest in the lanes of traffic on the interstate. Mr. Gillman was accompanied by a juvenile who sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result. It was determined that the driver was intoxicated. He was transported to Franklin Woods Hospital for treatment of his injuries and upon his release, was booked into the Washington County Detention Center where he was charged with aggravated assault, driving under the influence and contributing to the delinquency of a child. The passenger was transported to Johnson City Medical Center Children’s Hospital where she was listed in stable condition. Mr. Gillman is being held on a $12,000 bond and is set to appear in Washington County General Sessions Court on October 29, 2015 at 1:00 pm.
