                On May 5th, 2020, Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Zaylor Arnett, a 21 year old W/m, of 208 Marion Branch Rd Elizabethton, TN, 37643-5805, and charged him with Theft over $2500.

The arrest stemmed from an incident on May 5th, 2020 at approximately 8:45 p.m., in which Mr. Arnett was found to be driving a stolen gray Mazda 6 in the parking lot of Econolodge at 207 E Mountcastle Dr. The vehicle was reported stolen from Elizabethton earlier that day.

                Mr. Arnett was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond awaiting arraignment set for 05/05/20 1:30 p.m. in Washington County Sessions Court.

On 5/3/2020, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Adam Allison (2807 S. Roan St. #21, 52 years old) and charged him with aggravated assault (domestic related).

At approximately 4:45 p.m., officers responded to the S. Roan St. address and observed that the victim, Mr. Allison’s wife, had a large knot on her forehead and was bleeding. The victim said Mr. Allison struck her in the face with a cane after a disagreement. Mr. Allison was located inside the residence and placed under arrest.

Mr. Allison was transported to the Carter County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $3,000 bond. Arraignment date is still to be determined in Carter County Sessions Court.

On 5/6/2020, the Johnson City Police Department arrested John D Ireton-Hewitt (47, 4080 Highway 126 Blountville, TN ) as a Fugitive from Justice.  

At 6:50 a.m., JCPD officers investigated an unfounded allegation of a kidnapping that occurred in Johnson City.  An occupant of the suspect vehicle, John Ireton-Hewitt, was found to have an active arrest warrant for Violation of Probation on an original charge of Possession of Schedule II Narcotics out of Bristol, VA. 

Mr. Ireton-Hewitt was booked into the Washington County Detention Center and is currently being held without bond.

On 5/7/2020, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested James Mears (43, 408 S High St, Tullahoma, TN, 37388) on 1 count of possession of a stolen vehicle.

On 5/7/20 at approximately 11:50 p.m.,  officers patrolled to the area of 3406 W Market St. Officers located a truck known to be stolen. Officer’s observed Mears exiting the vehicle in the motel parking lot.  Officers placed Mears in custody for being in possession of the stolen truck.

Mears was arrested and booked into Washington County Detention Center with a hearing in Washington County Sessions Court on May 8th, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Bond was set at $1500.

On 5/7/2020, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Hollie B. Johnson (305 Hallbrook Rd., Gray, 39 years old) and charged her with driving under the Influence, violation of implied consent and introduction to a penal facility.  

 

On 5/7/2020, at 2:33 p.m., officers responded to a reckless driver on Interstate 26.  Officers located the vehicle and made contact with Ms. Johnson at Plaza Wine and Spirits, Gray, TN. The investigation revealed that Ms. Johnson was driving the vehicle.  After making contact with Ms. Johnson, she became uncooperative and refused to submit to any field sobriety tests, which led to a driving under the influence charge. 

 

0n 5/7/2020, Ms. Johnson was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center.  Once in the facility, Ms. Johnson dropped a Kleenex holding two prescription drugs believed to be Klonopin and Ambien. Ms. Johnson is being held at the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000 bond.  Arraignment is set for 10:00 a.m. on 5/8/2020 in Washington County Sessions Court.

On 5/7/2020, at 10:13 p.m., officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Mumit Q. Williams (607 Jackson Ave., 39 years old) and charged him with aggravated assault (domestic) and (2cts.) simple assault (domestic).

On 5/7/2020, officers were called to 607 Jackson Ave. on a family disturbance, where Williams became angry at his family, assaulted his two juvenile step sons and another juvenile. One juvenile was rendered unconscious and required medical treatment. The other two juveniles had minor injuries. Williams left the residence after making threats to return with a firearm. Officers located him a short distance away, unarmed, and took him into custody.

 

On 5/7/2020, Williams was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear at 9:00 a.m. on 5/8/2020 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 5/8/2020, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Teddy M. Hyatt (243 White Cove Rd. Unicoi, TN, 37 years old) and charged him with Aggravated Assault (Domestic).

 

At approximately 10:00 P.M. officers were dispatched to the area of University Parkway and I-26 in reference to a domestic disturbance. Officers located the victim and an investigation revealed that Mr. Hyatt had a confrontation with the victim involving a knife. Mr. Hyatt attempted to stab the victim as she was driving. The victim then stopped her vehicle and fled on foot. Mr. Hyatt then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

 

Officers located the vehicle a short time later, conducted a traffic stop, and took Mr. Hyatt into custody. Mr. Hyatt was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he in being held in lieu of a $20,000 bond. Arraignment is scheduled for 5/11/2020 at 1:30 P.M. in Washington County General Sessions Court.

      On 05/09/2020, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Candice Hollifield Ayala (246 Justice Rd. Marion, NC 28752, 34 years old) and charged her with one count of Burglary and Shoplifting under $1000.

     The arrest is the result of an investigation for a report of a shoplifting occurring at 3111 Browns Mill Rd. Upon arrival officers made contact with the complainant who alleged that Ms. Ayala was shoplifting from the business before attempting to leave the premise. Ms. Ayala was alleged to have stolen a backpack valued respectively worth $24.88. She was observed on video surveillance swapping a price tag that she scanned in place of the backpack. While exiting the premise Ms. Ayala was detained at the front vestibule and escorted to the loss prevention office for processing. Once in the loss prevention office it was discovered that Ms. Ayala was trespassed from Walmart property and had direct knowledge that she was not supposed to be on the premise. Ms. Ayala was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where she is being held in lieu of a $2,000 Bond. Her arraignment hearing is set for 01:30 p.m. on 05/11/2020 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 5/9/2020, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Joesph D. Meek (2701 S. Roan St. #70, 22 years old) and charged him with Fugitive from Justice.

 

At approximately 9:45 P.M. officers responded to 2701 S. Roan St. #70 in reference to a domestic disturbance. During the investigation Mr. Meek was found to have an active warrant out Ohio for violation of parole stemming from an original charge of burglary with full extradition.

 

Mr. Meek was taken into custody at that time and transported to the Washington County Detention where he is being held in lieu of a bond hearing. Arraignment is set for 5/11/2020 at 1:30 P.M. in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 5/10/2020, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jose L. Cordero (182 Warrior Ln. Johnson City, TN, 33 years old) and charged him with Aggravated Assault (Domestic).

 

On 5/9/2020 at approximately 9:45 P.M., officers were dispatched to 2701 S. Roan St. #70 in reference to a domestic disturbance. Officers made contact with the victim at the residence and an investigation revealed that Mr. Cordero had come to the residence where an altercation ensued. During the altercation Mr. Cordero had threatened to stab the victim with a knife, and cause other serious bodily harm.

 

At approximately 3:00 A.M. Carter County Sheriff’s Department located Mr. Cordero during a traffic stop on Milligan Hwy.  where officers went and took custody of him. Mr. Cordero was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he in being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond. Arraignment is scheduled for 5/11/2020 at 1:30 P.M. in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 5/10/2020 at 2:25 p.m., Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Casey M. Chambers (32 yr old),2855 Highway 91 Elizabethton, TN and charged her with Burglary and Theft of Property Under $1000.

 

Officers were dispatched to Walmart, 3111 Browns Mill Rd. to investigate a shoplifting incident. Chambers entered the store and selected various merchandise and exited the store without paying for it.  Further investigation revealed, Chambers had signed a trespass notice at Walmart on 6/5/2018 and had previously been convicted of Shoplifting at Walmart in Washington County Sessions Court on 6/12/2018.

Chambers was arrested and transported to Washington County Detention Center where she is being held on a $2,000.00 bond. An arraignment is set for 5/11/2020 at 1:30 p.m. in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 5/12/2020, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Kevin Michael Alley (Johnson City, 45 years old) and charged him with theft of property (motor vehicle) over $1,000.

 

On 5/11/2020, at approximately 6:20 p.m., officers responded to 607 Twin Oaks Dr. in reference to a stolen vehicle. Officers made contact with the victim who stated that his Nissan Pathfinder taken while he was doing his laundry. On 5/12/2020 at approximately 4:20 a.m., officers located the victim’s vehicle in the parking lot of 119 Pinnacle Dr. The investigation revealed that Alley was responsible for taking the vehicle.

 

On 5/12/2020, Alley was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. Arraignment is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on 5/13/2020 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On Tuesday May 12, 2020, 42 year old Christopher Coffey, 930 Hopson St. Johnson City, TN, was arrested by officers of the Johnson City Police Department and charged with especially aggravated kidnapping. The arrest comes after officers responded to 932 Hopson St to investigate a kidnapping. The complainant said that Coffey walked into her yard and started playing with her 2 year old grandson. Coffey suddenly picked up the child and refused to give him back to his grandmother. Coffey was attempting to leave the area with the child when police arrived. Officers were able to restrain Coffey while safely removing the child from his arms. Neither the child nor Coffey were injured during the incident, and the child was returned to his grandmother. Coffey was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Washington County General Sessions Court on May 13, 2020 at 1:30 pm.

On 5/14/2020, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Dustin Mitchell (2917 Browns Mill Rd Ext., 36 years old) and charged him with Burglary of a Motor Vehicle.

At approximately 8:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to 1100 Seminole Dr. to check for a suspicious person trying to open the doors to the Wesley Foundation. Officers arrived on scene and noticed a male hiding in a red pickup truck in the parking lot. The male was identified as Mr. Mitchell and the truck did not belong to him. Mr. Mitchell had concealed a small tool kit, lip balm and loose change from the truck in his pockets. The vehicle owner stated he does not know Mr. Mitchell and that he did not have permission to be in his truck.

Dustin Mitchell was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $1,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 10:30 a.m. on 5/15/2020 in Washington County Sessions Court.

On May 14th, 2020 officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested 26 year old Jonathan P. Berical, 3343 Steam Plant Rd. Johnson City, and charged him with aggravated assault (domestic). The arrest was the result of an investigation involving a female known to Berical who reported that while at his residence, Berical suddenly became upset with her for an unknown reason and ordered her to leave. He raised a wooden baseball bat over his head like he was going to hit her with it and threatened to kill her if she didn’t leave. The female had bruising and an abrasion on the bridge of her nose. Berical was transported without incident to the Carter County Jail under a $5,000 bond and is awaiting arraignment on May 18th, 2020 at 8:30 am in Carter Co Sessions Court.

On 5/14/2020, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Michael Wayne Dent (2701 S Roan St, Lot 159, 29 years old), and charged him with Burglary and Resisting Arrest.

At Approximately 6:50 pm, Officers responded to 3111 Browns Mill Rd, Walmart, to a shoplifting in progress. Officers assisted loss prevention employees with stopping Dent from exiting the store. Dent stated he would not go with officers and began to pull away. Officers detained Dent. Dent was found to be concealing items in his pockets. Further investigation revealed Dent had previously been trespassed from Walmart.

Michael Wayne Dent was placed in custody and transported to Washington County Detention Center. He is being held in lieu of a $2000 bond. Arraignment is set for 5/18/20 at 10:30 a.m. in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 05/14/20, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Logan France (389 Rauhof Rd., Telford, TN 37690, 21 years old) and charged him with Evading Arrest.

 

On 05/02/20 at approximately 04:20 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call of suspicious vehicles at 1900 S. Roan St. Officers located the vehicles and identified the driver as Logan France. During officer’s investigation, Mr. France started his vehicle and fled from officers.

 

On 05/14/20 at 20:18 hours, Mr. France was taken into custody at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 10:30 a.m. on 05/15/20 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 5/15/20, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Christopher Forbes (310 E Chestnut St, 29 years old) and charged him with aggravated burglary, auto burglary and theft charges.

The arrest comes as a result of an investigation into property found on Forbes’ person when he was arrested on a separate, unrelated matter on 3/26/20. The subsequent investigation into these various properties revealed the items were linked to multiple burglaries and thefts in the areas of Llewellyn Wood Dr, Lester Harris Rd, Holly St and Laurel Ave, on or about the days of 3/22/20 and 3/25/20.  

Forbes was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a total bond amount of $86,000. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 5/18/20 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 05/15/2020, Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jewon O. Gaines (1170 Snowden Ter., Johnson City, TN. 23 years old). Mr. Gaines was charged with Theft of Property (Over $1000).

On 05/15/2020 at 08:48 hours, Officers responded to a suspicious vehicle at 516 Swadley Rd. Officers made contact with Mr. Gaines sleeping in the front seat of a red Honda Civic. Further investigation revealed that the red Honda civic was reported stolen out of Johnson City, TN.  Officers arrested Mr. Gaines and he was transported to the Washington County Detention Center for Theft of Property (Over $1000). Mr. Corvin’s bond is set at $2,000 and his arraignment is on 05/18/2020 at 1:30 p.m at Washington County General Sessions Court.
