On 12/23/14, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jeremy A. Messer (2533 Cherokee Rd, 22 years old) and charged him with forgery and theft over $1,000. At approximately 12:30 p.m., a white male entered Suntrust Bank located at 410 Roy Martin Road in Gray and cashed a check in the amount of $1,723.00. After the check was passed it was determined that the check had been altered from its original form. The check was originally made out to a business in Piney Flats. However, the pay to order section had been altered to show Jeremey Messer as the payee. Police located Mr. Messer at his residence on Cherokee Road. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $2,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 10:30 a.m. on 12/24/14 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
