On March 23, 2014, officers of the Johnson City Police Department were summons to the Cherry Street
parking lot located in the downtown area at the State of Franklin Road and Cherry Street intersection. Upon
arriving, officers found a large group of people involved in a commotion. After restoring peace, officers found
that two males were in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers also were pointed to a male
subject that had been detained by bystanders as being the person involved in the shooting.
At this time, the Johnson City Police Department is able to confirm that there was a shooting at the Cherry
Street parking lot and that we have multiple victims with at least one dying from the wounds suffered from the
shooting. Investigators are interviewing witnesses and one person of interest at this time. No names are being
released at this time pending notification of next of kin. More information will be released later in the day.
