On 10/09/20, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Michael Grindstaff (119 Shenandoah Dr., 40 years old) and charged him with aggravated assault, simple possession, and convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
At approximately 7:41 a.m., officers responded to the area of E. Mountcastle Dr. and N. Roan St. Dispatch advised officers that a male in the area was pointing a handgun at passing motorists. Officers were able to locate a subject in the area that matched dispatch’s description of the subject. Upon making contact with Mr. Grindstaff a firearm and narcotics were found to be hidden on his person. During the course of the investigation a records check was conducted and showed that Mr. Grindstaff is a convicted felon. The victim was able to positively identify Mr. Grindstaff as the individual who pointed the handgun at his vehicle.
Mr. Grindstaff was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $15,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 09/12/20 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
