On 7/25/2020, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Harry Sparks (31 Towne Sq. Johnson City, TN 37601, 53 years old) and charged him with burglary and theft of property.
At approximately 10:21 a.m. on 7/25/2020, officers were dispatched to 106 S. Commerce St., Mid City Grill, in reference to an open door. Security camera video showed that a subject had entered the business through the open door, grabbed a tip jar, and then left with the money. Officers located Sparks in front of the Johnson City Library, and were able to identify him as the suspect in the burglary based on the video evidence and his own confession.
Sparks was placed under arrest and transported to Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $2,000 bond. Arraignment is set for at 1:30 p.m. on 7/27/2020 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
