On 05/25/20 officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Juan A Gonzales (701 Pardee St, 24 year old) for convicted felon in possession of a handgun, felony possession SCH VI, and unlawful drug paraphernalia.
At approximately 12:17 a.m., officers initiated a traffic stop on I-26 westbound on a gray sedan for going 75 mph in a 60 mph speed zone. During the investigation, officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search was conducted and officers located a backpack in the backseat containing several baggies of marijuana, scales, along with a Glock 21 handgun that was loaded. It was determined Gonzales was found to be the owner of the contents during the investigation.
Gonzales was transported to the Washington County Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $12,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 05/26/20 in Washington County General Sessions Court at 1:30 p.m.
