On 5/16/20, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Christopher Jeffers (General Delivery, 34 years old), and charged him with possession of stolen property, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and theft of motor vehicle.
On 04/24/20 at approximately 8:45 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Bristol Highway and Will Mary Rd in reference to a single vehicle crash. When officers arrived on scene witnesses told them that the driver of the vehicle had fled on foot after the crash. Investigation revealed that the driver was Christopher Jeffers, and that he had taken the car without permission from the owner. A pistol which had been reported stolen out of Jonesborough, TN was also located at the crash site. At the time of this incident Mr. Jeffers had outstanding warrants for motor vehicle theft.
Officers located Mr. Jeffers at 3111 Brownsmill Rd while investigating a shoplifting incident which he had been involved in. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $12,500 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30p.m. on 5/18/20 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
