On Sunday 10/20/19, at approximately 8:00 a.m., officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to an attempted carjacking. The victim reported that he was fueling his SUV at Sunoco, 408 N Broadway St, when he was approached by a white male wearing a red plaid jacket at the fuel pump. This subject brandished a firearm and demanded his vehicle keys. The suspect began running, at which point the suspect shot him in the back. The suspect ran to a nearby church and called 911. The suspect did not obtain any property and ran toward E. Myrtle Ave.
The victim was transported to the Johnson City Medical Center, where it was discovered he had been shot with a pellet gun. A review of the store’s surveillance video revealed the suspect spent a significant amount of time inside the store prior to the attack.
Later that day, an officer spotted an individual, on Princeton Rd, matching the description of the carjacking suspect. The subject was identified as Dalton Gill (19 years old, Greendale Dr. Johnson City).
Mr. Gill is charged with Attempted Carjacking and Aggravated Assault. He is being held in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $50,000 bond. He was scheduled for Arraignment in General Sessions Court on Monday 10/21/19 at 10:00 am.
