On 9/20/2019, at approximately 1:30 AM, officers with the Johnson City Police Department were at Walmart, 3111 Browns Mill Rd., investigating a suspicious vehicle. The subsequent investigation revealed that Jennifer Skwarka, 31 years old of Hillcrest Drive, Greeneville, TN, was the lone occupant of the vehicle. Upon the discovery of a firearm within plain view in the car, Skwarka was told to step out of the vehicle. Ms. Skwarka stepped out of the vehicle but tried several times to reach back into the car where the firearm was located. Ms. Skwarka then attempted to flee from officers on foot and actively resisted their efforts to take her into custody. She was eventually apprehended and a search of the vehicle revealed the previously mentioned firearm as well as various drugs. Ms. Skwarka was taken to the Washington County Detention Center on charges of Resisting Stop/Arrest, Possession of Methamphetamine (Felony), Simple Possession of Schedule II, III, and IV drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Dangerous Felony. Ms. Skwarka is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Washington county General Sessions Court on Friday, 9/20/2019 at 10:30 AM.
