On 09/11/19, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Lloyd M. Matthews (35 yrs old, 234 Defriece Prv. Drive Bristol, TN) and charged him with numerous offenses after extradition from Florida.
Mr. Matthews is accused of stealing three different vehicles between 05/14 and 06/15. A 2018 rental Toyota Camry was found for sale on Craigslist. The vehicle was recovered by Investigators, after it was determined it had been reported stolen by Enterprise Rental cars. The investigation led to Lloyd Matthews as a suspect.
On 06/10/19, Mr. Matthews also allegedly stole an acquaintance’s 2006 Nissan Titan. That vehicle was recovered with heavy damage the next day in a field off of Dry Creek Rd.
On 06/15/19, A citizen entered the Roadrunner, 1310 Cherokee Rd. He left the keys in the ignition of his 2000 Audi 41Q and a subject stole it from the parking lot. Surveillance video from the store identified Lloyd Matthews as the suspect. The Audi was found burned on Free Hill Rd on 06/19/19.
Mr. Matthews is charged with three counts of Auto Theft, in addition to one count each of Identity Theft and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card. He is being held in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a combined bond of $17,500. He is scheduled for Arraignment in General Sessions Court on Thursday 09/12/19 at 10:00 am.
