On 07/06/2019, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Caleb E. Lee (410 Johnson Ave. Elizabethton, TN) 23 years old, and charged him with Possession of Methamphetamine (Felony), Simple Possession of Schedule VI narcotics, and Evading arrest.
At approximately 8:00 a.m, a Johnson City Police Officer conducted a traffic stop at E Lakeview Dr. and Sandy Dr. During the traffic stop, a black male exited the front passenger door and fled on foot into a wooded area behind Lake Terrace apartments on Sandy Dr. Officers utilized a K9 unit and began tracking the area in which the suspect ran. During the track, the K9 alerted on a hollow stump along the path that the suspect took. Officers located a baggie containing 12 grams of marijuana and a baggie containing 17 grams of methamphetamine inside of the stump. At approximately 2:00 p.m, officers received an anonymous tip the suspect that fled from the traffic stop was back at that location and had gone back into the wooded area. Officers searched the area and located the suspect approximately 50 feet away from where the narcotics had been located earlier. The suspect was walking toward the location where the narcotics were found and spotted officers as they approached. The suspect laid on the ground and was taken into custody without incident. The officer who initiated the traffic stop earlier in the day recognized the suspect as the male that had fled from the vehicle. The suspect was identified as Caleb E. Lee. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where is being held in lieu of a $12,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 pm on 07/08/2019 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
