On Tuesday, 2/26/19, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jeremy Earp (22 years old, 1817 Merrywood Drive, Johnson City) on the charges of: Three counts of Manufacturing/Delivery/Sell of Controlled Substance Schedules I, IV, and VI, Possessing a firearm during commission/attempt to commit dangerous felony, Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia, Reckless Driving, and Financial Responsibility.
On 2/26/19 at approximately 2:55 am, an officer observed the Defendant’s vehicle traveling on N Roan St at 62 MPH in the 30 MPH zone. The defendant then ran a red light before he was stopped by officers. Upon detecting the odor of marijuana, the defendant admitted to having marijuana and a firearm in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a pistol and a loaded magazine and a backpack. Inside the bag officers discovered: 82 grams of illegal mushrooms (Schedule I) in six different bags, 26 grams of a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana (Schedule VI) in two different bags, a small baggie filled with five solid Xanax (Schedule IV) "totem poles" and five one-half "totem poles" and one Alprazolam (IV) pill, six pipes with residue and burn marks consistent with illegal drug use, 33 small empty baggies, one digital scale, two metal scientific weights, one metal grinder with marijuana residue, two cut straws, and 3 packages of hemp rolling papers. Also discovered was a glass vial with a white crystalline residue consistent with methamphetamine, and another glass vial with a white powder residue, and a green square of a pressed substance in a blue bag. Based upon the amounts of the illegal drugs found, the differing types, separate packaging, baggies, and scale with weights, the defendant was consequently charged with three counts of felony Possession of Schedule I, IV, and VI Drugs for Delivery and Sale, Illegal Possession of a Firearm while in the Attempt/Commission of a Dangerous Felony, and Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia. As a result of his driving behavior traveling at over double the posted speed limit and running red light at that same speed, he was also charged with Reckless Driving and Failure to Comply with Financial Responsibility, as he could not provide current proof of insurance.
The Defendant was placed into custody on the above charges and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of $40,500 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 2/27/19 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
