On 2/26/18, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Richmond T Macklin (705 E Fairview Ave, Johnson City, TN, 53 years old) on the charges of theft under $500 and convicted felon in possession of handgun. The arrest is the result of a 911 call in regards to the theft of a firearm which had just occurred. Macklin was located in the immediate area of the theft and attempted to discard an item behind a tree. The handgun which had been reported stolen was then located behind the tree and Macklin was placed in custody. Due to a previous felony conviction on Macklin’s criminal history, he was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
Macklin was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held on a $11,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear for his arraignment in General Sessions Court on 2/27/18 at 1:30 p.m.
