On 2/25/2018, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Cassandra Story (292 Clarks Creek Rd., Jonesborough, TN; 28 years old) and Cody Mashburn (425 Woodlyn Rd., Johnson City, TN; 22 years old)and charged them with felony possession of methamphetamine for resale, criminal simulation, possession of a firearm in commission of a dangerous felony, felony possession of stolen property, misdemeanor possession of stolen property, destruction of VIN, simple possession, and unlawful drug paraphernalia.
At approximately 4:40 a.m., officers located a vehicle displaying at stolen license plate at 3406 W. Market St. Further inspection of the vehicle showed that the visible VIN had been removed and the vehicle spray painted gold and white. It was later discovered that the vehicle itself was also stolen. The investigation led to a room at the motel rented under Mashburn’s name, and a records check showed a warrant out of Washington County on Mashburn. Officers saw Mashburn in the room, and he was taken into custody. In plain view in the room were two firearms and various items of drug paraphernalia. Consent to search the room was granted, which led to the finding of a felony amount of methamphetamine, counterfeit currency, and additional paraphernalia.
Both were transported to Washington County Detention Center, where each was held on a cumulative$43,000 bond. Arraignment was set for 1:30 p.m. on 2/26/2018 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
