On 06/15/2017, Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Anthony James Keown, (701 Judith Dr, 34 years old) and charged him with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.
At 02:48 am on 06/15/2017, Officers responded to the area of Montgomery St and Fairview Ave on an unknown disturbance. Officers arrived and located an adult male victim laying face down in the grass of a nearby residence with severe burns on his stomach and legs. Through the investigation, it was learned that the victim was involved in an altercation with Keown at 303 Montgomery St. Witnesses stated Keown was able to drag the victim out of the residence, through the street, and into a neighbor’s yard, where he poured rubbing alcohol on the victim and set him on fire. The victim was taken to the Johnson City Medical Center and later flown to the Burn Center of Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, Winston Salem, NC for treatment for his injuries.
Keown was located inside the residence of 303 Montgomery St. Keown was placed under arrest and transported to the Johnson City Police Department to be interviewed where he denied committing the offense. He was then transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 10:30 am on 05/16/17 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
