SUBJECT: Felony Drug Arrest DATE: 3/5/17 TIME: 12:00 a.m.

On 2/4/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Anthony N. Ayers (179 Bill Bennett Rd. , Johnson City, Tn., 26 years old) and he was charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana for Resale, Simple Possession of Schedule II, and Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia. At approximately 9:23 p.m. on 2/4/17, officers conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan Maxima for a traffic infraction on W State of Franklin Rd. Officers then made contact with the driver and the front passenger who was later identified as Anthony N. Ayers. Consent was granted to search the vehicle from the driver and officers located a duffel bag where Ayers was sitting. Ayers first denied ownership of the bag and when officers opened the bag they located numerous individual wrapped baggies of marijuana and a large sum of US currency. When officers first had Ayers step out of the vehicle they observed the distinct odor of marijuana emitting from his person. Due to the finding, officers placed Ayers under arrest and placed him in handcuffs. A search of his person revealed more marijuana and a pill bottle that contained numerous pills that were identified as Hydrocodone. Mr. Ayers was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $12,000 bond . Arraignment is set for today, Monday the 6th at 1:30 p.m., in Washington County General Sessions Court.
