On 2/23/17, Officers of the Johnson City Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on Indian Ridge Rd. The driver of the vehicle attempted to evade the officer by driving off the roadway and through a yard. As the vehicle re-entered the roadway, it drove towards the police vehicle as if it were intending to strike the vehicle in the side, and then proceeded back to Indian Ridge Road at a high rate of speed, making several attempts to avoid the officer and other units, at one time backing into the front of the pursuing cruiser. The driver, a male juvenile, was taken into custody after getting his vehicle stuck in a yard. He was transported to the Johnson City Police Department where he was interviewed. After contacting the on call Juvenile Officer, the juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. The juvenile is being held on charges including Aggravated Assault x2(TCA 39-13-102), Evading Arrest(TCA 39-16-603), Reckless Endangerment(TCA 39-13-103), and Speeding(RADAR)(TCA 55-8-152) and has a hearing set for 2/24/17.
