On February 2, 2017, Investigators with the Johnson City Police Department working along with the Johnson
City Fire Marshall’s Office arrested a 17 year old juvenile for Arson and Criminal Trespassing. The investigation
began on the night of September 25th, 2016 when patrol officers responded to the General Mills property
located at 500 W. Walnut Street in reference to an unauthorized person being on the premises. While clearing
the building, officers located the juvenile inside of the abandoned property. Within minutes of locating the
juvenile, officers noticed flames exiting the 3rd floor of the building. A joint investigation into the incident occurring
on September 25, 2016, by the Johnson City Police Department and the Johnson City Fire Department led to the arrest
of the juvenile for Arson and Criminal Trespassing. The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Upper East
Juvenile Detention Facility. A hearing will be set in the Johnson City Juvenile Court at a later date.
