On 01/13/17 at approx. 1900 hours, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jessie Birchfield, 31 years of age, of 1917 Wheeler Street, Johnson City, and charged him with Aggravated Burglary and Theft of Property over $1,000. The arrest occurred after officers responded to 603 E. Mountcastle Drive, Apt. #7, after a neighbor of the victim reported that he had observed an unknown subject exit his neighbor’s residence. The witness provided officers with a description of a vehicle that the suspect had gotten into before leaving the area.
A short time later, officers observed a vehicle fitting the description of the one given by the witness and made contact with Mr. Birchfield who had several pieces of jewelry in his possession that were identified as belonging to the victim. Mr. Birchfield was also found to have currency belonging to the victim hidden in his underwear. Mr. Birchfield confessed to committing the burglary and was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is currently being held in lieu of a $30,000 bond. Mr. Birchfield is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on 01/17/17 at 0930 hours to be arraigned.
