On Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at approx. 7:45 pm, Officers of the Johnson City Police Dept. arrested Shaun F. Brummett, age 24, of 2157 Upper Stone Mountain Rd, Unicoi, TN after fleeing the scene of a traffic crash caused by a road rage incident on I-26 Eastbound at the N Roan St Exit. Mr. Brummett altered his license plate in an attempt to conceal his identity before fleeing the scene. The other party involved provided 911 with his license plate information. Officers located the vehicle continuing East on I-26 traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving through traffic. Upon initiating a traffic stop, Mr. Brummett attempted to get out of his vehicle and was told several times to stay in the car and put his hands up. Mr. Brummett then told officers he had a firearm in his possession, and a small caliber revolver was found in his pocket. Upon searching his vehicle, officers found several items of drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and Suboxone without a prescription. Mr. Brummett was charged with Aggravated Assault, Altering Automobile Plates, Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia, Simple Possession / Casual Exchange, and Possession of a Deadly Weapon during Offense. He is being held on a $42,000 bond in the Washington County Detention Center and is set to appear in Washington County Sessions Court on 06/08/16 at 9:00am.
