On June 06, 2016, at approximately 10:10 p.m., officers with the Johnson City Police Department observed a 2001 Dodge Caravan driving erratically in the area of S. Roan St. and University Pkwy. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, 58 yr old Salvador Ponce, 514 Tennessee St., Unicoi, TN. Mr. Ponce exhibited signs of impairment and was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Mr. Ponce was unable to perform any of the standardized field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested. A check of Mr. Ponce’s driving status showed his driver’s license is currently revoked for DUI. He also had three prior DUI charges. Mr. Ponce was transported to the Washington County Detention Center and charged with DUI - 4th Offense and Driving on a Revoked License. He is currently being held in lieu of a bond hearing, which is scheduled for June 07, 2016, at 1:30 p.m., in Washington County General Sessions Court.
