On Sunday, May 29, 2016 at approximately 8:05 pm., Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested a suspect for Felony Shoplifting, Identity Theft, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The suspect was Ricky J. Martin, age 26, of 207 Academy St., Elizabethton, TN. The arrest was the result of an apprehension by Walmart's loss prevention on this date. Martin attempted to leave the store with a 50 inch television and during further investigation attempted to use someone else's identity to avoid arrest. Martin was identified and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held on a $7,000 bond. His arraignment is set for Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 1:30 pm in the Washington County General Sessions Court.
