On 05/08/16, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested a 17 year old juvenile for Possession of Schedule VI for Resale, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Failure to Exercise Due Care. The arrest occurred after officers responded to a single vehicle crash on I-26 near mile 13. Upon arrival officers observed a vehicle sitting in the median. Near the wrecked vehicle sat a male juvenile with a backpack lying nearby. When officers inquired about who owned the backpack the juvenile subject denied any knowledge but did admit to driving the car. Officers found inside the backpack 23.7 grams of what appeared to be marijuana, 16 decorative baggies, and a scale. Officers then found two of the same decorative baggies inside the vehicle and two decorative baggies inside the juvenile’s pockets. The juvenile also had money inside his pocket which was seized as evidence.
The juvenile was arrested and released on a juvenile citation to the custody of a guardian. A preliminary hearing is set for 06/24/16, at 9a.m., in Johnson City Juvenile Court.
