SUBJECT: Felony Drug Arrest DATE: 4/14/16 TIME: 11:00 p.m.

On 4/14/16, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Kenny D. Carpenter (404 Colorado St. , Johnson City, TN, 34 years old). Kenny D Carpenter was charged with Sales of Schedule I Drug, Possession of Methamphetamine for Resale, Evading Arrest, and Unlawful Drag Paraphernalia.
At approximately 9:17 p.m. on 4/14/16, officers were conducting foot patrols in the area of Powell Square Park when they observed a male riding a motorized bicycle with no headlight. Officers told the male to stop and he fled the area on the bike. After a brief foot pursuit the suspect was taken into custody and he was identified as Kenny D. Carpenter. Incident to arrest officers conducted a search of his person and located two bags of a crystal substance, 3 empty baggies, and two cut straws. One contained a large amount of a brown crystal substance which was determined to be heroin and the other baggie contained a large amount of white crystal substance determined to be methamphetamine.
Police arrested Mr. Carpenter, and he was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $22,000.00 bond. Arraignment is set for 10:30 p.m. on 4/15/16, in Washington County General Sessions Court.
