On 4/11/16, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jeffery Darren Sproles (1120 W. Shipley Ferry Rd., Kingsport, TN., 41 years old) and charged him with (3 cts.) forgery over $500.
On 12/11/15, officers made contact with the victim of a reported check forgery at his bank in Johnson City. The victim advised that his checks had been stolen from him. He later noticed that three of his missing checks had been forged and two of them had been cashed. Both checks that were cashed were made out to Jeffery D. Sproles. Video was obtained from the banks where the checks were cashed and it confirmed Jeffery D. Sproles had cashed them. The third check was also filled out payable to Sproles, but the bank teller recognized the check as a forgery and did not cash it.
On 4/11/16, Sproles was placed under arrest after he was released from the Sullivan County Jail. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $3,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 4/12/16 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
