On 12/01/15, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Clifton Joe Austin, b/m, 39 years old, of 1415 E. Holston Ave. Johnson City and charged him with two counts of Identity Theft. The arrest is the result of an investigation into a report filed by the victim who stated that while running a credit check on himself he found two outstanding accounts that he did not open. The victim advised that he found a Sprint account with an overdue balance of $1,572.21 and a Verizon account with an overdue balance of $546.00. Mr. Austin is currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $20,000.00 bond. Arraignment for Mr. Austin is scheduled for 12/02/15 at 10:30 a.m. in Washington County General Sessions Court.
