On 10/30/15, at approximately 9:38 p.m, officers of the Johnson City Police Department were dispatched to a very serious traffic crash that had just occurred on Cherokee Road near Scenic Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a pedestrian, Ms. Martha Kalmbach, age 52 of 405 E. Myrtle Ave. in Johnson City, had attempted to cross Cherokee Road. While in the process of doing so, Ms. Kalmbach was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Cherokee Road, which was being driven by Ms. Breanna Holsclaw, age 19 of 238 Simms Hill Road in Elizabethton, Tn. Unfortunately, Ms. Kalmbach sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. Ms. Kalmbach is believed to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Speed and/or alcohol is not believed to be a factor on the part of Ms. Holsclaw. The investigation is being conducted by the Traffic Homicide Unit of the Johnson City Police Department.
