On 5/27/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Henry Bennah (113 Terrace Ct Apt C6, 24 years old) and charged him with domestic aggravated assault.

At approximately 10:15 p.m., officers responded to a domestic disturbance at 113 Terrace Ct . The victim advised that she had been in an argument with her boyfriend, Mr Bennah when he grabbed her around the neck and choked her. The victim had scratches and redness around her neck. 

Mr Bennah is being held at the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:45 p.m. on 5/30/17 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

The Johnson City Police Department is currently investigating a burglary that occurred on May 23, 2017 at approximately 5 am. Video surveillance captured the suspect entering the locked business and stealing several items. The suspect is described as a white male with brown hair and a beard. He is also wearing a black zip up hoodie and a FOX racing brand hat.  Video surveillance cameras also captured the suspect vehicle which is believed to be a late 90s or early 2000’s model Chevy Astro Van or GMC Safari Van, green in color with silver or gray along the bottom. On 5/30/17, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Christopher James Vanhorn (32, 11513 Rose St., Lamont, CA) on one count of aggravated assault and one count of simple assault – intimidation.

On 5/24/17, officers responded to reports of an altercation outside John Sevier Center, 141 E Market St. Officers determined that the victim had been threatened with a knife following a verbal dispute and the subsequent investigation led to Vanhorn being charged with the offense.

0n 5/30/17, Vanhorn was served with the arrest warrant on these charges after having been previously booked into Washington County Detention Center on unrelated warrants. He is being held in lieu of $51,000 bond and will be arraigned on 08/30/2017 at 1:30 pm in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 5/30/17, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Kevin Morris (1 Trivett Concourse, Johnson City, 22 years old) and a juvenile (Johnson City, 15 years old) and charged them with aggravated robbery.

 

On 5/30/17, officers responded to Eastside Ave., where an employee of Domino’s Pizza reported that he had been struck in the head by an object as he walked toward the door of an address to deliver pizza. Investigators were able to obtain witnesses who observed and identified several people who were in the vicinity of the robbery. The victim received treatment at the Johnson City Medical Center and was released.

 

On 5/30/17, Morris was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $51,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 5/31/17 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

 

The juvenile was taken to the Upper East Tennessee Regional Detention Center, where he will be held until a court date is determined by Johnson City Juvenile Court.

On 5/31/17, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Derik Bailey (Johnson City, 19 years old) and a juvenile (Johnson City, 17 years old) and charged them with aggravated robbery.

 

The arrest comes as investigators were following up a robbery that took place on Eastside Ave. on 5/30/17, where a delivery driver was was struck in the head as he attempted to make a

delivery at a residence. The investigation revealed that 2 adults and 2 juveniles were acting in concert when they robbed the delivery driver.

 

On 5/31/17, Bailey was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond is is scheduled to appear at 1:30 p.m. on 6/1/17 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

The juvenile was taken to the Upper East Tennessee Regional Detention Center, where he will be held until a court date is determined by Johnson City Juvenile Court.

On 5/31/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested a juvenile female (Johnson City, 15 years old) and charged her with identity theft (14 cts).

 

On 5/15/17, the victim came into the Johnson City Police Department to file a report about her credit card being stolen and then used. The stolen credit card was found to have been used at multiple locations in Johnson City which include Walmart, Quantum Leap, Walgreens, Champs, JC Penny, Forever 21, and Dicks Sporting Goods. Video was obtained from these transactions and the suspect was identified.

 

On 5/31/17, the suspect’s legal guardian brought her to the police department where she admitted to taking and using the credit card without permission. The juvenile was cited and released back to her guardian. A preliminary court date has been set for 9:00 a.m. on 7/14/17 in Johnson City Juvenile Court.

SUBJECT: Domestic Assault and False Reporting       DATE: 05/31/2017     TIME: 4:40 p.m.

   On 5/31/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Demarcus A Hightower, 30 year old B/M of 200 E. Watauga Ave; and charged him with Domestic Assault.  In addition, officers arrested Jalesa J. Harris, a 26 year old B/F of 200 E. Watauga Ave, and charged her with False Reporting.

   At approximately 4:40 p.m., officers responded to the area of 200 E. Watauga Ave. in reference to a female being beaten in the yard by a male.  Officers were able to locate the female involved, Jalesa Harris, in one of the apartments.  Harris provided false information to officers about the incident as well as the identity and whereabouts of the male, Demarcus Hightower.  DCS had to respond to the scene as a result of incident.  

   Harris and Hightower were transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where Harris is being held on a $5,000 dollar bond and Hightower on a $1,000 dollar bond.  Their arraignment is set for 06/01/17 at 1:30 p.m. in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 06/01/17, the Johnson City Police Department arrested James Shannon McGinnis (26 yrs old, 110 Foster Ct. Jonesborough) and charged him with Theft of Property (Motor Vehicles) over $1,000.  The arrest stems from an investigation into a Ford Ranger truck that was stolen from an address on E. Fairview Ave. on 04/02/16.  After the truck was stolen it was crashed in the Rock Springs area of Kingsport, which led to Mr. McGinnis being identified as the suspect.  Mr. McGinnis is being held in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $10,000 bond.  He is scheduled for Arraignment in General Sessions Court on 06/02/17 at 10:30 am.

On 6/1/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Amy Gillette (40 years old, of 293 S. Austin Springs Rd., Johnson City, TN) and charged her with Theft of property over $1,000.  

 

On 5/29/17, officers responded to a theft that occurred at 515 Princeton Rd., Princeton Self Storage.  The victim reported that a Colt M4 Carbine was stolen from his storage unit sometime over the last couple of weeks.  The victim stated that Ms. Gillette had access to his storage unit.

 

On 5/25/17, officers of the Elizabethton Police Department received information that Amy Gillette was trying to sell a Colt rifle, identical to the Colt M4 Carbine, at a pawn shop in Elizabethton.

 

Amy Gillette was arrested without incident and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond.  Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 6/2/17 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

    On 06/02/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Elizabeth Savinsky, 30 years of age, 312 Cave Hill Rd, Blountville, TN, charging her with Felony Shoplifting over $1000.               

At approximately 12:12 pm, officers responded to Walmart, 3111 Browns Mill Rd, in reference to shoplifting. Upon arrival officers spoke with employees of loss prevention. They advised they observed the suspect conceal multiple items of houseware items, jewelry, clothing and food in a shopping cart. They advised the suspect then walked past all points of sale without rendering payment before being stopped and detained. All items were recovered totaling $1388.99.  Ms. Savinsky was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 pm on 06/05/17, in Washington County General Sessions Court.

    On 6/2/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Julius L Ditto (509 Village Ct., Nashville, Tn., 31 years old) and he was charged with being a Convicted Felon in Possession of Handgun, Tampering with Evidence, Altering Vehicle Plates, and Simple Possession of Marijuana.  At approximately 2:00 p.m. on 6/2/17, officers observed a maroon Ford traveling on E Maple St with what appeared to be an altered Tennessee temporary tag. Officers conducted an investigatory  stop of the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Julius Ditto. While speaking with Ditto officers smelled marijuana emitting from the vehicle and asked Ditto to step out. When officers explained to Ditto about the smell, he stated there was no marijuana in the car, because he ate it. Officers then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and located numerous items of contraband throughout the vehicle. Officers located rolling papers, a baggie that had an odor of marijuana, and a partially smoked marijuana joint. Officers then located a large sum of US currency and a loaded firearm in the center console of the vehicle. Upon inspection of the temporary tag it had been changed with a marker to extend the date.  Mr. Ditto has a previous felony conviction in Davidson County, TN.  He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $35,000 bond.  Arraignment was set for today, Monday, June 5th at 1:30 p.m., in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On Saturday, June 03, 2017, at 1:00 pm., officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Ms. Michelle Evans, 34 year old female, currently residing at 916 E Watauga Ave in Johnson City, on charges of 2 counts of Reckless Endangerment, Felony Evading Arrest, Driving while a Habitual Motor Offender and Speeding. The arrest was the result of an attempted traffic stop for speeding where the suspect vehicle fled Police not only endangering the vehicle’s passengers, but other motorists. The vehicle was found within several feet of Ms. Evans’ address and she was positively identified as the driver of the vehicle. Ms. Evans was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where she is currently being held on a $35,000 bond with an arraignment set for Monday, June 5th, 2017 at 1:30pm.

     On June 4, 2017, at approximately 9:15 PM, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Logan Allan Hardesty, age 20 of 22119 Big Bass Camp Rd, Abingdon VA and charged him with 1 count of possession of Schedule VI narcotics for resale and 1 count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  

     The arrest occurred as a result of a traffic stop on I-26 at N. Roan St. when officers stopped a green Jeep Cherokee driven by Mr. Hardesty.  While talking to Mr. Hardesty, officers smelled an odor of marijuana coming from inside his vehicle.  Officers received permission to search the vehicle and located approximately 1.7 ounces of marijuana under the driver’s seat.  

     Mr. Hardesty was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of $5,000 bond.  Mr. Hardesty is scheduled to appear in Washington County General Sessions Court on Monday June 5, 2017, at 1:30 PM, for an arraignment.

     On June 4, 2017, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Robert J. Tribble, 49 yrs old, of 253 Bill Nave Loop, Elizabethton, TN, and charged him with Theft of Property over $1,000 (Motor Vehicle).  

     The arrest occurred after officers responded to T’s Market, 607 N. Roan St. in reference to a disturbance which involved a maroon 1998 Ford F150 truck and Mr. Tribble.  The investigation revealed the maroon Ford truck had been reported stolen.  A witness at the scene placed Mr. Tribble in possession of the vehicle prior to officers arriving.  

     Mr. Tribble is currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.  He is scheduled to appear in Washington County General Sessions Court on June 5, 2017, at 9:00 A.M.

                On 06/05/17, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Joseph Lee Miller (109 Butterfly Lane, 34 years old) and charged him with one count of Identity Theft and one count of Theft of Property over $1000.  The arrest is the result of an investigation into a report that was filed by the victim who stated that his credit card had been used in Johnson City without his permission.  Mr. Miller was located at his residence where he was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $15,000 bond.  Arraignment is set for 10:30 p.m. on 06/06/17 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

     On June 5, 2017, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested 29 year old Jeremy D. Roberts, 119 Vip Rd., Johnson City, and charged him with Possession of Methamphetamine, Simple Possession, and Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia.

 

    The arrest stems from an investigation into a 911 call that was received at approximately 2:25 a.m. reporting suspicious people were walking around an apartment complex near parked vehicles.  When officers arrived, they noticed two males, including Mr. Roberts, leaning into a car with an open window that was being occupied by a white female.  Officers observed Mr. Roberts holding an unmarked white pill case.  Further investigation revealed the pill case contained approximately 0.5 grams of a white powdery crystal that tested positive for Methamphetamine, 0.5 grams of Marijuana, and a Hydrocodone and Clonazepam pill.  

 

    Mr. Roberts was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $12,000 bond.  An arraignment is set for June 6, 2017, 9:00 am, in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 6/4/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Hayley Webster  age 19 of 2107 Hickory Springs Rd,  Johnson City, TN and charged her with Aggravated Domestic Assault and Especially Aggravated Burglary.

On 6/4/17 at approximately 4:00 a.m., officers responded to 116 Topside Circle Apt. 7 in reference to an assault. Officers found a male victim with a knife wound to his leg. Further investigation revealed Hayley Webster, the victim’s girlfriend, forced her way into the victim’s apartment and an argument ensued. Webster threw a kitchen knife at the victim, striking his left leg causing a deep wound. Webster left the scene prior to officer’s arrival. A warrant was sought for Webster’s arrest and she was taken into custody at 8:20 p.m. at her residence. Hayley Webster is currently being held at Washington County Detention Center on a $60,000 bond. An arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 6/5/2017 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On 06/06/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jordan Treadway (20 years old, 1037 7th St., Erwin, TN) and charged her with Aggravated Assault, Domestic Aggravated Assault, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest. 

At approximately 2:01 p.m., officers responded on a crash at the intersection of N. State of Franklin Rd. and Greenline Rd.  When officers arrived on scene, they observed subjects in a verbal argument.  Officers made contact with these parties and discovered that the incident was not a traffic crash, but an intentional act.  During the course of the investigation, it was discovered Mrs. Treadway attempted to get the driver of the other vehicle to pull over but was unsuccessful.  When the driver refused, she used her vehicle to hit the vehicle they were in so that they would have to stop.       

As Treadway was being placed in custody, she tried to pull away from officers and refused verbal commands to calm down.  Jordan Treadway was ultimately arrested without further incident and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is being held in lieu of a $51,500 bond.  Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 06/07/17, in Washington County General Sessions Court.

The Johnson City Police Department is currently investigating several auto burglaries that occurred in the area of N Roan St near the mall that occurred on the evening and night of June 4th, 2017. Officers with the Johnson City Police Department have placed charges on a juvenile and have other suspects on three of the reported auto burglaries. These auto burglaries occurred at 50Fifty, Bonefish Grill, and Texas Roadhouse.  During the course of the investigation, officers recovered several pieces of property that are believed to be stolen from other auto burglaries that have not been reported yet. Investigators believe there were several other auto burglaries that occurred in the same area and within the same time frame. The Department is asking for anyone that may have been a victim of an auto burglary to come forward and report those to the Johnson City Police Department. If any of your property that was taken can be identified, that we have in our evidence, we would like to return those items to the rightful owners. This would assist investigators in determining if more charges are to be placed on the suspects. You can make a police report by calling 911 or by coming to the Johnson City Police Department and filing the report with an officer and investigators will follow up with your case and determine if your property may already be recovered. JCPD NEWS RELEASE

On 06/07/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested David Chapman (1537 Redwood Dr, 20 years old), and Ty Leke Love (1352 Warpath Dr, 20 years old). Both individuals were charged with robbery.

At approximately 3:28 a.m., officers were attempting to locate an individual at Student Quarters on Seminole Dr. Officers observed a white BMW sedan pull beside two white males walking down the street. A white male and black male then exited the vehicle. Both the white male and black male started hitting the two males walking down the street. Officers observed one of the victims get shoved to the ground and both of the males from the vehicle started kicking him. Before officers could get to the altercation, the two males had got back into the vehicle and left the scene. Officers made contact with the victims. The victims advised that the two males got out of the vehicle and attempted to take their phones and wallets. Victims stated that they was punched and kicked several times. The victims also advised that they knew who both of the males was because they went to school with them. One of the victims stated that Mr. Chapman and Mr. Love took a $20 bill and a bottle of Black Velvet Whiskey from him.

Police located Mr. Chapman, and Mr. Love in a white BMW sedan at the Shell Gas Station (901 W Walnut St). A $20 bill was located on Mr. Chapman and a bottle of Black Velvet Whiskey was located in the vehicle. Both Mr. Chapman and Mr. Love was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where they are being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:45 p.m. on 06/08/17 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
