On 1/2/15, Investigators of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Steven John Connelly (283 C D Williams Rd., Telford, 27 years old) charging him with attempted 2nd degree murder, (2cts) aggravated assault and (4cts) reckless endangerment.
On 1/1/15, officers responded to Wal-Mart, 3111 Browns Mill Rd., on a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers located a single victim and several witnesses who provided statements. The victim was transported to the Johnson City Medical Center E/R where he is listed in stable condition. Connelly was stopped by officers a short time later and taken into custody. The investigation revealed that an argument between Connelly and his girlfriend escalated and the victim, who was with the couple, intervened. The victim and Connelly’s girlfriend were able get away from Connelly by getting into a vehicle coming through the Wal-Mart parking lot. Connelly subsequently rammed that vehicle, which was occupied by 4 people at that time. Over the course of the entire incident, the victim was also struck by Connelly with a spare wheel from his vehicle and by Connelly’s vehicle on 2 separate occasions.
Connelly was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $240,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear at 10:30 a.m. on 1/2/15 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
