On 10/30/2014 at approximately 8:18 a.m., officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to a burglary/business at Jack’s City Grill (1805 N Roan St). An employee of Jack’s City Grill reported to work in the morning and found a black male subject inside the restaurant. This black male subject ran out of the restaurant when he saw the employee. Officers apprehended the black male subject, identified him as Troy S. Avery, just a short distance away. Video surveillance showed Avery used a rock and smashed open a side window at approximately 5:46 a.m. Avery was in the restaurant drinking out of liquor bottles and had liquor bottles packed up in a crate. Defendant was attempting to steal those liquor bottles and food from the kitchen. Troy S. Avery, 44 years of age, no known address of Johnson City, TN was charged with Burglary. The defendant was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he will be held on a $10,000 bond. An arraignment is set for 10/31/2014 at 1:30 p.m. in Washington County Session Court.
